PORTLAND, OR, 18 AUGUST 2003 - The increasing trend of incorporating content creation and emerging digital technologies is changing the way media properties are made and viewed. The Filmmaking Biz in a Digital World Seminar is a comprehensive and lightning-fast overview of the digital feature film making process by two accomplished professional film writer/directors Allison Anders and Kurt Voss which will include some of the latest digital technologies. The seminar is ideal for studios, filmmakers, independent production teams, publishers and advertising agencies interested in adopting emerging digital technologies.
Acclaimed award-winning director Allison Anders (Gas Food Lodging, Grace of My Heart) has just seen the DVD for her Digital feature "Things Behind The Sun" released to the home market. "Things" was independently financed for under a million dollars and went on to garner Emmy and Independent Spirit awards before debuting on Showtime. The film was shot on a handicam (mini DV) and edited on the desktop computer of Allison's fellow seminar guest and frequent collaborator, Kurt Voss (Poison Ivy- Director, Where The Day Takes You - Writer) who has garnered a Peabody Award for his screenplay and has received Independent Spirit Award nominations for films he has directed. Kurt’s Own DV-originated feature "Down and Out With The Dolls" (shot in Portland, Oregon) is currently finishing a 25-city theatrical run, and will be in video rental stores this fall.
Between the two of them, Allison and Kurt have directed over 20 features and thus will draw on an extensive reserve of practical knowledge as they lead this intensive four hour seminar, sponsored by Gateway, Intel Computer Corporation, H2F Media, JVC/Canon, Universum Satellite Wireless & Beyond Words Publishing. The seminar is being hosted in Portland by INDEWORKS entertainment.
